Leisure activities and day trips

Mondseeland boasts two wonderful warm bathing lakes, magnificent hiking trails, bike routes, bridleways, museums and exhibitions, and much more besides. A hike through Helenental is rather good for the soul.

You can hire electric boats, pedalos or rowboats from our own boat hire premises (there are naturally reductions for our guests!) and explore lake Mondsee and its attractive coves for yourself. Or you can enjoy a romantic trip around the lake on board one of our excursion vessels, the "Herzog Odilo" or the "Mondsee".

The alpine lake resort, a water park right next to our guesthouse, is the ideal place to spend your holiday with the whole family. Giant slides and sandy beaches are a real hit with the children - which guarantees a more relaxing holiday for the parents.

The water-ski and wakeboard school is also situated in the alpine lake resort.

To the left of our guesthouse you can find the Mondsee Rowing Club, followed by the Mondsee Surf- and Sailing School, which is one of the largest and most modern sailing schools in the German-speaking area. The Kitesurfing School is also located in the Sailing School. This means you can learn to sail, surf or kitesurf or simply relax on the balcony and watch the progress of loved ones.

Anglers are also catered for, as day passes are available for lake Mondsee, and fly-fishermen will be in their element in the wonderful rivers Mondseeland has to offer, such as the Fuschler Ache and Mondsee Ache! Our garden barbecue can even be used to cook the catch of the day!

Fabulous golf courses in wonderful surroundings and tennis courts will make your holiday a special treat.

If the weather isn't quite suitable for bathing, Mondsee has plenty of sporting activities you can participate in, such as tennis, squash and badminton, or you can visit the VitaClub or relax in the sauna area.

The Austrian Pfahlbaumuseum (pile dwelling museum), Freilichtmuseum (Salzburg Open Air Museum) and Heimatmuseum (museum of local history) offer insights into the country's early culture. The basilica in the resort centre and the many smaller churches in Mondseeland are, thanks to Meinrad Guggenbichler, just as much of a cultural experience and as worthy of a visit as the many exhibitions and events in and around Mondsee.

Mondsee gastronomy is well renowned for its culinary delights and you can enjoy many pleasurable hours (and naturally the native fish) in Mondsee itself or directly at the lake side.

You can reach the festival city of Salzburg in just 30 minutes, and excursions in the Salzkammergut region are just as easily accessible. These include Bad Ischl, Wolfgangsee, Hallstadt, Dachstein (with its ice caves), a few leisure parks, museums and much more besides.
